KUCHING: Puncak Borneo PKR Youth chief Musa Ngog has alleged that Tarat assemblyman Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn is making up stories to intimidate the Bidayuhs.
Musa, who is PKR’s potential candidate for Tarat in the next state election, said it was sad news for the people of Panchor, Serian when their assemblyman told them not to gamble their future by supporting the opposition.
Sagah claimed, among other things, that the opposition could wipe out the special privileges of Sarawakians if they came into power, and that the rural folk might lose their Native Customary Rights (NCR) land if they supported the opposition.
“This is a mischievous story by the Tarat assemblyman. As a legal practitioner, he should enlighten the public about NCR land matters and as an assemblyman, he should be fighting for the community, the majority of whom have no land titles,” Musa said in a press statement yesterday.
Musa said unlike Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan had a firm struggle for the Bidayuhs to defend their rights to NCR land.
“There are several ongoing cases and disputes between the villagers/land owners and plantation companies in the Tarat constituency, and he (Sagah) should be aware of these issues before releasing his statement to confuse the people.
“The NCR land disputes are not between the villagers and the opposition party, but between the villagers and business companies which provisional leases were given by the ruling government (BN) without the majority agreement from the affected villagers. The cases are in Kampung Munggu Kupi, Kampung Rayang and Kampung Sebemban.”
Musa said the Bidayuhs had nothing to gamble if they supported the opposition in this coming state polls, adding that it would be the best time to give a clear message to BN that the people wanted the best for their better future.-Borneo Post
