MIRI: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem has been
challenged to hire Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) holders for the state
civil service.
Democratic Action Party (DAP) secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said Adenan
must come up with a greater plan since announcing Sarawak’s recognition of the
UEC.
“Penang government has been fulfilling our promises by advertising in
the newspaper, wanting to recruit these UEC students into any vacancy
available,” the Penang Chief Minister said during the DAP Miri Chinese New Year
Open House on Friday.
“No extra terms and conditions of passing the SPM (Sijil Pelajaran
Malaysia) with credit etc. We are giving a full opportunity to all UEC students
to get a job as a civil servant.”
He suggested the Sarawak government follow suit to demonstrate its
sincerity.
Nearly 1,000 guests attended the dinner.
