Teras requests top BN leadership to retain incumbents

BAU: Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) Tasik Biru branch has requested top BN leadership to retain the party’s five incumbents as BN candidates in the upcoming state election. It also requested that the party be allocated one of the 11 new state seats.
These resolutions were passed at the party’s annual general meeting held at Gunung City restaurant here yesterday.
The five incumbents are party president and senior Minister Tan Sri Datuk William Mawan Ikom, Assistant Minister of Welfare Services and Teras deputy president Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie, Assistant Minister of Public Utilities Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran, Assistant Minister of Early Childhood and Family Development Rosey Yunus and Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang.
More than 600 party members from Bau, Singai, Jagoi and Bratak units attended the AGM.
Earlier when addressing the meeting, branch chairman Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie reminded party members to pool their resources and work closely with other BN component parties as Teras was part of the BN-plus family.
“Many of us (party leaders) are members in the ruling BN government. This is proof that we are part of BN, hence nobody should doubt our sincerity towards the coalition and also the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s trust in appointing us as members of his cabinet,” he said.
He added that as a responsible party, Teras would leave it to the wisdom of the Chief Minister and top BN leadership to choose winnable candidates to represent BN in the upcoming election.
“We cannot and must not try to override the Chief Minister’s power to choose his candidates by nominating and insisting on our party’s candidates,” he reminded members.
He also told party members not to be over zealous and create enmity among the people while campaigning in the upcoming election.
“We must not forget that the election is only about two weeks and after that we will still meet and talk to each other as friends,” he commented.
On his part, he said he was always ready and available to serve the people if renominated by the BN leadership to defend his Tasik Biru seat.
“I believe I have a good track record and have delivered a lot of government development programmes and projects not only in Tasik Biru but throughout the State as an Assistant Minister in the State Cabinet under the leadership of Datuk Patinggi Adenan.”

He also promised to bring more development to Tasik Biru and transform Bau into a vibrant economic centre through the building of an industrial estate and creation of more tourism spots. – Borneo Post.
