KUCHING: Timbalan Presiden Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (TERAS) Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie menghormati apa sahaja keputusan Ketua Menteri Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem termasuk siapa calon Barisan Nasional (BN) di Tasik Biru.

ELECTION TALK: Tasik Biru incumbent Peter Nansian is going under, and knowing the end is near, is taking the last few shots back – more out of reflex action than a dying man’s wish to take his rival along with him.

The battle to convince the BN leadership has been many long days and nights, it certainly looks like it has taken a heavy toll on Nansian, who has completely lost the support of all four component parties of BN despite his fervent pronouncements and public declarations that he is a BN man.

“I am still part of a strong BN team,”Nansian was quoted as saying after he took pot shots at Harry Henry Jinep, accusing his potential political nemesis of “talking like an opposition” and “criticising Barisan Nasional government”.

Needless to say, Henry would be the last person in Tasik Biru to be criticising BN, although the Sarawak Progressive Party (SPDP)’s Tasik Biru flag-bearer has every reason to criticise Nansian’s below par performance of the last 20 years and his RM300 million development plan that he wants to implement in the next five years when he had 20 years to do that.

No, Henry did not criticise BN; he directed his criticism at Nansian, and because Nansian believes in his own little lie that he is a BN man, he thinks criticising him is criticising BN.

Nansian is an assistant minister, so he has been going round Tasik Biru telling folk that he is a member of BN. The fact is he works for BN.

Anybody can work for BN, and coincidentally, the state BN is very accommodating of outsiders, which is why we also see people like William Mawan, Wong Soon Koh and Dr Jerip Susil working for BN. But that does not make them BN members.

Because they are working for BN, they can actually say they belong to the BN team. But they are still not BN members because one has to be a member of a BN component party to be a member of BN.

If you are a registered member of any one of the four state BN component parties namely, Parti Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP and Sarawak progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) then you are a BN member.

If you belong to any other parties, like Nansian is deputy president of Teras, you are not a member of BN even though you are an assistant minister which makes you are a part of the BN team – just like Nansian is.

Unfortunately, most, if not all of these gentlemen who get to be part of the BN team, think that working for the BN makes them a BN member and that when they are criticised, they are quick to deflect criticisms to BN.

That’s what is happening in Tasik Biru. When Henry questioned Nansian regarding his below par performance in the last 20 years, which the incumbent hopes to make up for with a RM300 million development plan in the next five years, Nansian accused Henry of criticising BN.

To Nansian it’s like, you criticise him means you criticise BN because he works for BN; you criticise him for a failed project, you criticise BN; you criticise him for failing to help accommodate the Malay community in the local government, you criticise the BN.

How childish!

And very sad, actually, because that’s when BN gets the blame when someone tasked with a job to do fails to deliver and says, “Don’t blame me, blame the boss.”

Or rather, “Why blame me, go and tell the leadership if you dare!”

Well, it has been many long days and dragging nights, there have been lots of political activities, debates and revelations in Tasik Biru that have not been in favour of Nansian.

If the BN leadership wasn’t aware of all these before, they surely know now because of all the debates and revelations.

The crowds are getting thinner, and all Nasian has are the familiar faces of loyalists who call themselves community leaders but don’t speak for the community they are supposed to serve.

Few now listen to Nansian’s speeches; fewer still believe in his RM300 million development plan.

Villagers no longer come in hordes to his meet-the-leader events; local BN leaders just don’t come at all.

It’s a completely different picture in the Henry camp. Not only are the crowds getting bigger, but all of Tasik Biru’s powerful warlords who once were Nansian’s allies are supporting Henry.

For a man who has been in power for 20 years and seeing this power no longer powerful, it is easy to understand why Nansian wants very much to pit Henry with the BN leadership by accusing the latter of criticising BN.

BN is PBB, PRS, SUPP and SPDP, Henry can’t be criticising BN when he is BN’s choice for Tasik Biru.

The political storm in Tasik Biru is causing a massive flood of support for Henry, Nansian is grabbing at straws but he knows he is going under.-The Ant Daily

BAU: Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) Tasik Biru branch has requested top BN leadership to retain the party’s five incumbents as BN candidates in the upcoming state election. It also requested that the party be allocated one of the 11 new state seats.
These resolutions were passed at the party’s annual general meeting held at Gunung City restaurant here yesterday.
The five incumbents are party president and senior Minister Tan Sri Datuk William Mawan Ikom, Assistant Minister of Welfare Services and Teras deputy president Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie, Assistant Minister of Public Utilities Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran, Assistant Minister of Early Childhood and Family Development Rosey Yunus and Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang.
More than 600 party members from Bau, Singai, Jagoi and Bratak units attended the AGM.
Earlier when addressing the meeting, branch chairman Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie reminded party members to pool their resources and work closely with other BN component parties as Teras was part of the BN-plus family.
“Many of us (party leaders) are members in the ruling BN government. This is proof that we are part of BN, hence nobody should doubt our sincerity towards the coalition and also the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s trust in appointing us as members of his cabinet,” he said.
He added that as a responsible party, Teras would leave it to the wisdom of the Chief Minister and top BN leadership to choose winnable candidates to represent BN in the upcoming election.
“We cannot and must not try to override the Chief Minister’s power to choose his candidates by nominating and insisting on our party’s candidates,” he reminded members.
He also told party members not to be over zealous and create enmity among the people while campaigning in the upcoming election.
“We must not forget that the election is only about two weeks and after that we will still meet and talk to each other as friends,” he commented.
On his part, he said he was always ready and available to serve the people if renominated by the BN leadership to defend his Tasik Biru seat.
“I believe I have a good track record and have delivered a lot of government development programmes and projects not only in Tasik Biru but throughout the State as an Assistant Minister in the State Cabinet under the leadership of Datuk Patinggi Adenan.”

He also promised to bring more development to Tasik Biru and transform Bau into a vibrant economic centre through the building of an industrial estate and creation of more tourism spots. – Borneo Post.

ELECTION TALK: In the race for the Tasik Biru candidacy, folks, especially the Bidayuh who make up more than 90% of the votes, are impressed by Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP)’s new prospect, Henry Harry Jinep.

Henry, who has entered the fray with the full blessing of all four state Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), SarawaK United People’s Party (SUPP) and SPDP, is a big hit among both kampung folk and the business community.

Since his introduction as the BN candidate on Feb 6 by SPDP secretary-general Anthony Nogeh Gumbek, Henry has become the one popular topic among folks in the villages and towns.

Inevitable, people compare and contrast, and by all accounts, Henry beats his rival, Tasik Biru incumbent Peter Nansian, like the hare that outran the tortoise – only this hare doesn’t rest to take a nap to give the tortoise the chance to steal his way to the finish line.

Henry, who has made it good in the corporate world, outruns Nansian all the way in the popularity race – and he is not stopping – because he stands for the new generation of Bidayuhs who want a piece of the cake that older players selfishly guard.

At just 48, Henry is an icon to a community known for its commitment to the future of their children to whom they give the best that education can offer.

Undoubtedly, Henry plays his cards well, making his millions in the construction sector and giving back to society in the process.

Today he is synonymous with Yayasan John Jinep, the first charity foundation solely for the Bidayuh, by a Bidayuh to provide financial aid, bursaries, grants, scholarships and loans to needy Bidayuh students who want to further their studies up to tertiary level.

The foundation was registered on 8 Dec 2014 with an initial fund of RM1 million deposited in Amanah Raya Berhad on 21 Sept 2015.

While he continues to receive accolades for his excellent business acumen – his company, Putra Sentosa Enterprise, won the Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards Contractor Grade 6 for three consecutive years – his long list of beneficiaries continues to grow.

He has helped with building and repairing village churches – Mt Singai Church (RM382,000), Batu Gong (RM80,000) and Kampung Stungkor Lama (RM120,000) – and community halls.

He donated to masjids and suraus, PTAs and alumni of schools, NGOs like Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) and Redeems, and civil and youth movements.

He has to date given out well over RM2 million of his own money towards this social endeavour of his, not so much to win over the hearts and minds of the people but more to ease their pains and facilitate their progress.

Henry did not enrich himself by depriving the people of their only wealth – land.

He did not buy the people’s land at dirt price and sell this to the companies at a fortune.

He never approached the poor Bidayuhs waving notes of all colours and tempted them into departing with their land because he knows this would only give them temporary relief but has every potential to confine them to life-long poverty.

Unfortunately, this is the harsh reality that many in Tasik Biru are face today.

Henry also did nothing like collecting money from potential Bidayuh investors in projects that promised the moon and the stars but never saw the light of day.

For all the things that he rightly did and did not do, Henry comes into the Tasik Biru candidacy race bearing a personal integrity that’s hard to match by any measure – or rival suitor.

Integrity is no burden, in fact in any political race it actually makes for speed, which is why Henry is running with the light-footedness of a young buck.

To his supporters, who have been packing community halls and sun tents wherever he went, if he could do what he had done as just Henry, as their next assemblyman he is capable of doing more than the RM300 million worth of projects pledged by Nansian for the constituency’s development blueprint over the next five.

While SPDP described Nansian’s pledge as “an extremely extravagant promise” that’s not only unrealistic but an attempt at fishing for sympathy, Henry’s supporters think the incumbent assemblyman should have done that long ago and not wait until he has been in office for 20 years and approaching the tail end of his political career.

They are not going to fall for Nansian’s rouse. Not when Henry makes a better option.

Mega projects and mega developments in Tasik Biru, if and when they come, will not be by Nansian but by Henry.

The Tasik Biru electorate, including the already high number of Bidayuh families who have lost their land to wealthy politicians and speculators, are looking to Henry to bring back a sense of pride to their community that now must compete with none of the assurance of solid ground under their feet.

To them, Nansian has got his chances and he has failed – miserably.-The Ant Daily

QUICK TAKE: Last time, it was Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) president William Mawan advising Barisan Nasional (BN): Don’t turn BN into an exclusive club.

For him to say that it must be that he was seeing something that the BN leaders did not see – that BN was fast becoming an exclusive club.

Strange that BN, with members numbering in the millions and leaders who rule in all the states, except Kelantan, Penang and Selangor, did not realise that the coalition was turning into an exclusive club.

If BN is an exclusive club, what is Teras?

I still don’t quite understand Teras, but if some of the statements of their leaders are anything to go by, it is a party of a number of smart people, who, like Mawan, see things that not even the many smart people in BN can see.

Another smart statement was issued by Teras deputy president Peter Nansian who said no single Barisan Nasional (BN) party can claim any of the 82 state seats and that any party can nominate candidates for all those seats.

s that so? If that were true, on what basis did the parties come together to form the BN coalition? On zero strength? On nothing but just names – Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP)?

No seats, no nothing?

Are we to believe that the parties all gave their seats to the BN at the time they agreed to join the coalition? That, therefore, they each had not a single seat because these were all put into the BN basket to be taken out and allocated to the parties at the whims and fancies of the BN chairman come each state election?

So every time an election comes, the seats are up for grabs and PBB, PRS, SUPP and SPDP are expected to name any number of candidates for any seats and no one should be angry. No party should feel threatened.

Going by Nansian’s statement, no party should talk about traditionally allocated seats. PBB has no claims over those 35 seats traditionally allocated to the party.

PRS has no exclusive rights over its nine seats, neither does SUPP over those 19 seats nor SPDP over its traditional eight.

It is hard to see Adenan sharing Nansian’s view, because there is no such a thing as the BN basket.

Every component party came in with a set of seats on which their standing in the coalition was assessed.

They did not come in dispossessed of their seats as intimated by Nansian.

Nansian was quoted as saying: “Let me tell them this. No single party owns any particular seat. All seats belong to BN and only the top leadership has the sole right to decide who they want to represent BN.”

Is that why Teras insists on putting all its five eggs into the so-called BN basket?

If that were true, it is still unfortunate for Teras because it is not a BN member and the top BN leadership does not include Mawan and him.

The BN leadership is made up of Adenan Satem, Dr James Masing, Dr Sim Kui Hian and Tiong King Sing, it is highly unlikely that these gentlemen will be bothered with returning Teras’ five eggs.-The Ant Daily

BAU: The rural community has been advised to stick with Barisan Nasional (BN) government to enable them to enjoy more development.

Assistant Minister of Community Services Datuk Peter Nansian acknowledged that there was a need to further develop the rural areas, particularly in terms of infrastructure, which could only be implemented for as long as they remained solidly behind BN.

“Although tremendous changes have taken place in Tasik Biru over recent years, we have to admit that there is still a lot to be done and the only way we can achieve this is through BN — no other way,” he told residents of Kampung Skibang here during a recent visit.

Nansian, who is Tasik Biru assemblyman, stressed that what his constituents had been enjoying were the outcome of their solid support to BN and for more better things to come, they should remain loyal to the coalition and its leaders.

“As your elected representative, I will always do my level best to meet the request of the people in my area to ensure that they would enjoy development, not just physically but also spiritually.”

Some 400 villagers welcomed the arrival of Nansian, who later announced an allocation of RM10,000 from his Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund for St Philip Church Kampung Skibang, and another RM30,000 for the church funds.

Additionally, the assistant minister also approved RM100,000 as requested by the village headman for the seting up of a football field there.-Borneo Post

KUCHING: No single Barisan Nasional (BN) party can claim any of the 82 state seats until they have been allocated by top BN leaders.

Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) deputy president Datuk Peter Nansian said all parties had the right to nominate their candidates to contest any seat but the question of who would represent BN at the end of the day would be the prerogative of BN’s top leaders.

He said any party including the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) could therefore nominate candidates
for constituencies such as Tasik Biru, of which he is the incumbent, because in the end “it will be the boss who will make the final decision”.

“The only thing is as true loyal BN members, we must listen to our boss and not try to be more superior than the boss and tell him what to do,” he said.

He told The Borneo Post this yesterday when commenting on a statement by SPDP Jagoi chief Dominic Ritay for all parties to respect SPDP’s right to nominate a candidate for Tasik Biru.

“Let me tell them this. No single party owns any particular seat. All seats belong to BN and only the top leadership has the sole right to decide who they want to represent BN,” said Nansian.

“The same thing goes to Tasik Biru. SPDP can claim that the seat belongs to them but if the BN chief decides to nominate someone else, who is more winnable, what are they going to say? Will they still put their candidate to challenge the BN candidate?”

He said it is therefore better for all parties to stop arguing on who will be the candidate but instead just focus on serving the people as this would be the only way to help strengthen support for BN.

“Stop wasting too much time fighting for rights over seats because that will not bring BN any good. What they should do is serve the people with full sincerity because that is more important,” he said.

Nansian said as long as he was still the elected representative, he would continue to serve the people.

“As far as I am concerned, I am still part of the government and because of that I have to execute all the duties and responsibilities that have been entrusted to me by the top leadership.

“So no one should stop or prevent me from helping the people because this is what we are supposed to do as elected representatives. Of course by engaging and working together with the local grassroots and community leaders,” he said.

Nansian added that it was unwarranted for Dominic to ask him to stop using community leaders, village chiefs and village security and development committees (JKKKs) for official events.

“I don’t see anything wrong with that. These people (community leaders, village chiefs and JKKKs) are part of the government. So am I and we should be working together in our common goal to serve the people. Is that wrong?” he asked.

Nansian also said it was unfair for Dominic to claim that he (Nansian) had resorted to instructing community leaders and councillors to boycott other government functions, especially those officiated at by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Anthony Nogeh Gumbek, who is SPDP secretary-general.

“I don’t pay people to come to my functions and neither do I give money to anyone to stay away from activities organised by SPDP. I don’t do these types of things.”-Borneo Post

BAU: The Public Works Department (JKR) has taken over construction of the delayed SMK Singai project, and the new completion date is 2017.

Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie said JKR was in the process of getting the tender ready for work to resume. The project is thus far only 50 per cent completed.

The new scope of the project would see SMK Singai’s student capacity increased to 1,000.

The school would also have boarding facilities that can house about 800 students.

The new proposed project will also include sports facilities and a multipurpose hall that was scrapped from the project’s original package.

Nansian, who is also assistant minister of community services, believed the tender could be out as early as next month. Barring any other complications, he hoped the school would be ready in time for the 2017 academic session.

“With JKR managing the project, hopefully it will be completed within this next two years,” he told reporters when met at Redeems Centre near here yesterday.

Nansian was at Redeems Centre for the Bau district-level 2015 Jalur Gemilang Tour celebration.

The school project, approved under the first rolling plan of the 10th Malaysia Plan (10 MP), was launched by then Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi at the school’s building site in Kampung Apar on April 15, 2011.

Construction commenced two years later, on April 30, and it was supposed to be completed by April this year.

The original allocation of the project was said to be RM60 million, but it was reduced to RM45 million after the multipurpose hall was scrapped from the original package.

“The hiccup was not on the government’s part, but was due to problems faced by the contractor. We wanted this
project to be completed this year, but due to problems faced by the contractor, the government had to resort to getting JKR to manage the project to expedite its completion,” said Nansian.

He mentioned that according to the consultant, the project was currently at 50 per cent completion. With increased capacity, inclusion of sports facilities and multipurpose hall, the cost of the project would also increase, he added.-Borneo Post
