BAU: Chinese community leaders in Tasik Biru constituency have unanimously declared their full support for incumbent Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie to continue representing the BN in the area.
The group comprising two Penghulus, seven Kapitans and three councillors representing the Chinese community in Tasik Biru pledged their support at a Chinese New Year dinner attended by over 350 representatives from Bau,Tondong, Musi, Sebuku, Buso, Taiton and Bidi held at a restaurant here Sunday night.
“He is very hard working, friendly and fair with all races and has done a lot for Tasik Biru, plus he has a very good vision and development plan for the future of Tasik Biru,” said Penghulu Lee Say Hin, when referring to Nansian who is Assistant Minister of Community Services and also Industrial Estate Development.
Lee noted that during the last 20 years since Nansian became its representative, Tasik Biru had seen tremendous infrastructure development and economic activities.
He cited as examples that almost all areas in the constituency were connected by tar-sealed road networks while every village was connected with electricity and water supplies.
“With the fast increasing housing development in Bau and good infrastructure, business and commerce in Bau have improved tremendously as people in surrounding villages can come to Bau easily,” he added.
“We can expect Bau to be a major tourist attraction once the Chinese Culture Village, the Gold Mine Museum and other attractions under the Western Sarawak Tourism Masterplan which has been proposed by Datuk Peter Nansian are developed,” Lee enthused.
Nansian, who was guest of honour at the dinner, thanked the Chinese community for their support and trust in him to continue his development blueprint for Tasik Biru.
“Let us all work together for the common good and ensure that BN will be victorious in the coming state election,” he said to the applause of all those present.
At the function, he approved government grants totalling RM95,000 comprising RM10,000 each to nine village security and development committees (JKKKs) and RM5,000 to Persatuan Wanita Bau. - Borneo Post
