KUCHING: PRS Youth publicity chief Bit Surang has reminded Assistant Minister of Public Utilities Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi that the ‘One Dayak’ spirit was not attainable if Dayak parties were forever split.
“Before, it was SNAP (Sarawak National Party), then it split into PBDS (Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak) and SPDP (Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party). PBDS was then split into PRS.
“Now, SPDP is further split into Teras (Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak), and the BN government supports the split,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Bit was responding to a statement by Dr Rundi, who urged Dayaks to remain united in order to realise the ‘One Dayak’ dream and also for their continued progress and development.
“Once we have the strength through the ‘One Dayak’ spirit, we can realise our visions such as producing more graduates from among our community in order to produce more professionals in various fields,” Dr Rundi was quoted as saying.
Bit said PRS Youth opposed a further split in Dayak political parties, and, therefore, urged elected representatives from Teras to go back to SPDP.
“We must discourage a further split of Dayaks in Sarawak. Dayak political leaders must put a stop to this divisive politics. It’s not healthy.”
He said the split of Kadazans Dusun Murut (KDM) in Sabah was a lesson to be learnt due to the divisive politics by the political party.
“Don’t let it happen to the Dayaks in Sarawak,” said Bit.-Borneo Post
