RM4.5 mln for Pantai Damai transformation

KUCHING: The Pantai Damai state constituency has been allocated RM4.5 million to carry various basic infrastructure projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).

Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the projects were a follow-up to the Development Lab run by the State Secretary’s (SS) Office last year.

“The project was made possible after Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem endorsed a huge amount of government allocation direct to each member of the state assembly to develop their area in early 2015,” he told reporters during a visit to on-going projects yesterday.

“We received various types of project requests and submitted a list of 72 projects to the SS’ Office for approval and implementation,” he said.

He explained that with the RM4.5 million allocation, a total of 33 projects were approved.

“There are many scopes of projects in Pantai Damai but those priority projects need to be done first,” he said.

“Pantai Damai has 41 residential areas — 35 of these are villages and six housing estates. The priority for the projects are basic necessity infrastructure and those that benefit the villages.”

Dr Abdul Rahman pointed out that one of the priority projects is a retaining wall at Kampung Boyan as well as widening and constructing drainage and bridges.

He hoped the projects would be completed by the end of the year or middle of next year.-Borneo Post
