Pelagus and Baleh women asked to ensure BN victory

KAPIT: Women voters in Pelagus and Baleh constituencies have been asked to ensure the Barisan Nasional (BN) wins the seats in the next state election.

Senate Deputy President Datuk Doris Brodie said women constituents are known to be strong BN supporters.

“Being a woman myself, I know you’re firm in your decision to support the government because you wouldn’t be easily influenced by others. Since 1988 when I joined politics, I’ve travelled extensively to Pelagus and Baleh to meet the rural folk,” she said during a meet the people event at Rumah Jampong, Baleh.

“Being the women’s chief of PRS (Parti Rakyat Sarawak), I’m familiar with Kapit. I know you are BN’s strong supporters and you’ll vote for the BN candidate. This was proven in the previous elections.”

Brodie also explained the proposed delineation of election boundaries in Kapit Division.

“If the new delineation for Pelagus seats (Pelagus and Selirik) materialises, there will be approximately 7,000 voters, out of which slightly more than half of the total voters are women.

“Therefore, women voters in the new Pelagus seat will play a very important role as the kingmakers,” she said.-Borneo Post
