Kluang MP draws salvo from Abdullah

KUCHING: Chief political secretary to the chief minister Abdullah Saidol yesterday lambasted Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong for having the audacity to warn Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem not to stop the Bersih 4.0 rally in Kuching on Aug 29 to 30.

“This type of rally is initiated in Peninsular Malaysia and obviously, it is politically motivated. A Peninsular Malaysian MP from Kluang arrogantly had the guts to warn our chief minister not to stop that rally in Kuching soon.

“We understand that a few politicians like him from Peninsular Malaysia are being invited to Sarawak and snobbishly trying to make us look like morons,” he said yesterday.

Abdullah, who is Semop assemblyman, was responding to Liew’s statement recently that he (Liew) would hold Adenan responsible should there be a crackdown on Bersih 4.0 rally in Kuching.

Liew said the chief minister had the power to approve, and should approve, the use of public space for Bersih.

Abdullah said all true blue Sarawakians must reject this culture of public confrontation and creating social chaos which apparently has brought no benefit, but created more hatred and suspicion in the state, which had always been regarded as a peace loving and closely knit multi-racial society.

“Show the Peninsular Malaysian folks, especially their politicians that we Sarawakians are different and don’t try to make a ‘jackass’ out of us.”

He said the state government under the leadership of Adenan would firmly continue Sarawakians’ quest for more, in terms of development grants and administrative autonomy from the federal government.

“We Sarawakians must by all means reject any attempt to bring into Sarawak those twisted and wicked political culture (by Peninsular Malaysian politicians).”-Borneo Post
