SIBU: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s announcement of incumbent Dr Annuar Rapaee to defend Nangka seat this coming state election, says a world of good on his groundwork.
During a recent ‘Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2015’ gathering at a hotel here, Adenan, who is state BN chairman, called for full support for Dr Annuar to enable him implement the development agenda for Sibu.
“Yes, I am happy for him and for the people of Nangka. That shows our CM is happy with his performance,” state BN Youth chief Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said when asked for his view.
State BN secretary-general Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi concurred with the chief minister.
“He (Dr Annuar) is the right candidate, being a creative young leader,” said Dr Rundi, who is who is Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Electricity and Telecommunications).
Meanwhile, longhouse chief Eddy Jemat said all the folk from the 31 longhouses in Nangka state constituency thanked Adenan for the announcement.
Eddy said Dr Annuar was the most suitable candidate as he had served the people in Nangka well.
He said the longhouse folk pledged full support for BN and Dr Annuar.
“He frequently visited all the longhouses in Nangka to check on our needs,” he added.
Eddy further noted basic amenities such as electricity and water had been provided to give the folk a better quality of life.
Besides that, roads leading to longhouses have been tar-sealed to enhance connectivity and mobility.
“There are (also) facilities for youths to channel their energy positively,” he said.
Meanwhile, PKR Sibu branch chief Abdul Raafidin Majidi had claimed that the party would put up a candidate in Nangka this coming state election to wrest the seat from BN.
In the 2011 state election, staunch BN supporters sent the opposition packing when PBB Nangka candidate Dr Annuar won with a handsome majority of 5,302 votes.
Dr Annuar garnered 7,710 votes to defeat PKR candidate Norisham Mohamed Ali, who polled 2,408 votes.-Borneo Post
