KUCHING: Fifteen projects with a total cost of RM2.434 billion will be implemented in the state under the current 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP).
In disclosing this, Minister of Works Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said among the priority projects were the upgrading of Bintulu-Samalaju road from the junction of Nyabau to Bakun junction and the construction of Batang Sadong Bridge now under construction.
The other projects, he mentioned, were the construction of Samarahan Bridge, upgrading of the road from Tg Kidurong to Samalaju Industrial Park, and upgrading of Kuching-Serian road from Mile 10 to 15.
“All the mentioned projects have been requested to be implemented in the 11th Malaysia Plan based on priority, and based on the promises made during election,” Fadillah said yesterday.
He revealed this at the Teras Networking Session with Minister of Works held at Riverside Majestic Hotel here.
Fadillah stressed that for the state, the construction of the 1,089km Pan Borneo Highway would be the main focus.
According to him, the project would be carried out under Project Delivery Partner (PDP) through the agreement between the federal and state governments and LBU Sdn Bhd made in June last year.
He added that two packages of the Pan Borneo Highway project – the 43km stretch from Nyalau junction to Bakun junction and the 33km stretch from Telok Melano and Sematan – started last year.
Fadillah further said the 10 other packages stretching from Sematan to Miri with a length of 746 km would be tendered out in stages this year,
adding that the whole project was expected to be completed in 2022.
The Petra Jaya MP also said the state had 46 projects under the previous 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) which were now in various stages of implementation.
He added that six projects at a cost of RM290 million were still in the design stage, while the rest were being implemented.
