SIBU: Newly-minted Natural Resources and Environment Minister Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar plans to make changes, including strengthening the enforcement, to keep pace with change.
He said changes in the environment had made such adjustments necessary.
Wan Junaidi added that he would know what needed to be tweaked after getting a briefing.
“There will definitely be some changes because when things change, stemming from changes in the environment, we will have to adapt.
“Else, we will be left behind,” he told The Borneo Post here.
One area that he intended to zero in would be the ministry’s enforcement unit.
He said the challenges ahead such as climate change, unpredictable weather and haze were huge.
Haze, he pointed out, had always been an Asean problem and thus, Malaysia and Indonesia were looking at ways to tackle the problem.
Then there are floods to worry about, he added, with year-end fast approaching.- Borneo Post
