Proposed re-delineation a ‘bonus’ for 5 villages in Sebuyau state constituency

SEBUYAU: Assistant Minister of Rural Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi describes the proposed re-delineation would be a ‘bonus’ for five villages currently under the Sebuyau state constituency.

Under the planned exercise, Kampung Sungai Apin, Kampung Bandung, Kampung Tanjung Harapan, Kampung Tanjung Pisang and Kampung Selangking would be put under Simunjan, of which the assemblyman is Assistant Minister in Chief Minister’s Office (Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Development) Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais. The five villages have about 800 voters.

Julaihi, who is the assemblyman here, said he had no qualms about the proposed re-delineation.

“All these villagers are the staunch supporters of BN (Barisan Nasional), and since Simunjan and Sebuyau are under PBB, to include these five villages under Simunjan is a bonus (for villagers) under the government’s rural transformation programme.

“I believe that the villagers would continue supporting PBB and BN in Simunjan, just like they have been supporting me in Sebuyau,” he told reporters recently after attending a ‘Leader Meets People’ session at Kampung Sungai Apin here.

Julaihi – who is PBB vice president – also believed that his Sebuyau electorate would not be affected after the proposed re-delineation, adding that he would continue helping the five villages even if they were no longer part of his constituency.

Later, the assistant minister announced a RM10,000 allocation for Kampung Sungai Apin development and security committee (JKKK), and RM20,000 for the construction of a top-spinning court there.

The session was also attended by Sebuyau Sub-District administrative officer Ajis Ahmad.-Borneo Post
