Projects under RTP programme progressing well

SEBUYAU: Projects under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) programme here are progressing well, although there is a slight delay in some.

According to the divisional engineer of Public Works Department (JKR) Samarahan, Nasseruddin Abd Jabar, nine of the projects would be completed this year, while four others were scheduled for completion next year.

Among the four projects set for completion next year is the new community hall at Kampung Tanjung Lutong, Sebangan at a cost of RM400,000.

“Generally, the department is satisfied with the progress of the projects, although there are projects which have been delayed. The contractor has promised to complete the projects on time, and we (JKR) are monitoring them,” he told reporters during a site visit Tuesday.

Assistant Minister of Rural Development and Assistant Minister of Industrial Development (Investment and Promotion) Datuk Julaihi Narawi was supposed to come for the visit, but was cancelled because of a last minute appointment with the Head of State.

Nasseruddin said Sebuyau was allocated RM4.5 million for 13 projects under the RTP. Projects worth RM4.1 million came under JKR and another RM400,000 came under Department of Irrigation (DID).

Among the projects were upgrading and construction of community halls, suraus, roads and chapel.

“Based on feedbacks, the people here are looking forward to the completion of the projects which will benefit them,” he said.

Samarahan deputy resident Jamali Busri and senior JKR staff were also present at the visit.-Borneo Post
