BAU: PBB believes that its strong presence in Serumbu would justify its call to the top leadership in Barisan Nasional (BN) to have the proposed new constituency allocated to the party in the next state election.
According to Deputy Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos – who is also PBB Bengoh chairman, there are already more than 3,000 party members in the area from 33 sub-branches and seven zones.
“PBB in the area (Serumbu) has the strength and the membership keeps on increasing. As such, it is only reasonable for the constituency to be given to PBB. The BN top leadership should seriously consider this request,” he said at ‘PBB Zone Serumbu Roadshow’ at Kampung Seropak here on Friday night.
Dawos, who is Mambong MP, said there were no other BN parties that were active and had many members in Serumbu apart from PBB, adding that the party was also not short of candidates of calibre.
He also said he would ‘fight’ and not give up if the constituency went to other parties in the state polls, stressing that he had ‘other options’ if this happened.
Dawos also called on the people to continue giving strong support to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, who had implemented many people-centric policies and would not allow political parties outside the state like Umno to enter the state.
He also pushed for more support for PBB, which he said had been looking after the interests and welfare of Bumiputeras.
Meanwhile, PBB Bengoh secretary Jeguk Ngamo encouraged more to join PBB without fear, stressing that the party had always been the lynchpin of the state BN.
He also urged PBB grassroots leaders and members to work closely and cooperate with one another to ensure the party would be given Serumbu seat in the next state election.
The roadshow was also attended by coordinator for PBB Bengoh and Serumbu, Datuk Detta Samen, together with PBB Youth Bengoh chief Miro Simuh who is also PBB Youth Central executive committee member.-Borneo Post
