Rally behind BN for more devt, PBB members in Kapit told


KAPIT: PBB members here have been told to support BN candidates in the coming state election as Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s go-rural policy will benefit Kapit.

Political secretary to the Chief Minister Jefferson Jamit Unyat, who made the call, said party members must support whoever the top BN leadership picked for the various state seats here.

“We must all abide by the decision of the top leadership, be united, and vote for the BN. This is crucial to ensure the new wakil rakyat can work closely with Kapit MP cum Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.”

Jamit said this Saturday when he led PBB Pelagus Youth Division members to Rumah Agan Minggat, in Sungai Kapit, to assist the longhouse folk build their new longhouse. He stressed that political unity was vital to ensure the smooth implementation of projects and activities.

“Kapit is a rural area, and it will certainly benefit from Adenan’s go-rural policy. Although Kapit is growing and expanding currently, it still needs more infrastructure and amenities.”

Citing Kapit/Song/Sibu road project, the Sungai Baleh Bridge connecting Mujong, and the allocation of RM10 million to ratify main water pipes as initiatives that could change the face of Kapit, he said the division needed more in order to catch up with urban centres like Kuching, Sibu and Miri. The 30-door Rumah Agan, formerly known as Rumah Minggat, was razed by an early morning fire on May 10, 2013. The fire made some 300 people from 30 families homeless.-Borneo Post
