The office will be completed end of next year or early 2017 and subsequently will be manned by seven staff to serve people from 18 longhouses.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, who is also Minister for Modernisation of Agriculture, announced this at a Leader-meet-the-people session in Rumah Ulu Sepak yesterday.
“The government will also set up 46 agriculture stations throughout rural areas in Sarawak in our effort to develop the rural areas,” he said.
In view of this Jabu urged the constituents here to continue supporting the Barisan Nasional (BN) government during the next state election for the sake of uninterrupted development, particularly during the 11th Malaysia Plan (2016 to 2020).
On another issue, Jabu said Jalan Ulu Layar – linking Jambu Kerampak and Rumah Timang Rantau Layang – will be extended by two kilometres up to Rumah Berundi Batu Pesok. The road extension will cost RM3 million.
Another five-kilometre road linking Rumah Berundi Batu Pesok and Lempaoung costing RM5 million is also in the pipeline.
These projects are set to become catalyst to rural development here.
At the function, Jabu introduced the second edition of the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Iban-Bahasa Malaysia dictionary apart from presenting government grants to 17 JKKKs from the Spak Ulu, Spak Tengah, Spak Hilir areas amounting to RM80,750.
A total of 323 doors will benefit from the funds.
Also present at the function were Betong Resident Datu Romi Sigan Daniel, permanent secretary to the Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture Datu Dr. Ngenang Janggu and State Agriculture director Datuk Lai Kui Foong.-Borneo Post
