I will vote for DAP because of the Lims, dynasty or not!

COMMENTS by Theantdaily readers

Lokman Hashim: Let me get one thing straight. If politicians had not been doing their job, were greedy, self-centred and corrupt, then they have to go. But that cannot be said of Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng. So what if they are father and son!

I am a Malay and I will support the Lims because in all their years of public service, they have proven to be transparent, accountable and trustworthy. I’m not a DAP member but because of Kit Siang and Guan Eng, I’m prepared to vote for the DAP. Dynasty? So what!

Bronson Tan: List one water-tight reason why they have to go? Are they corrupted, unprincipled or in any way, working hand in gloves to plunder and siphon off the country's wealth? Are they not competent, skillful and embrace ONE MALAYSIA in its original sense. Why LGE had to go to jail instead of a child rapist former chief minister? Is DAP perfect - of course still far from it. But are their policies just, fair, credible and give everyone a equal playing field - certainly yes. Do they have a solid, crystal clear mission and vision for the nation - yes. Do they practise what they preach - resounding yes. Do they try to reach out and help the poor, ostracised, marginalised, forgotten lot irrespective of race, gender, creed, and status - yes. If most of the answers to the above questions are more yes than no’s, then tell me what the heck do we want to change and replace them with those with untested, no track record and risk all that could mess up the real, credible opposition in terra incognita?

Causeway: Why let go? CM LGE is doing a good job. Malaysians are discerning. If father and son are no good, out they go! As for non-Chinese members not chosen during the party elections, it wasn't the people who made the decision. Hannah Yeoh is doing a fantastic job, yet she was placed below DAP members who are not that popular.

Roger 5201: Both Lims had won in the last elections to earn their keeps...let the people decide.

Mikey: It is a catchy phrase to call the Lims a dynasty. We all know that DAP are not worth 2% of Umno put together. Most of the comments here are in unison that DAP are sharing and working for a better Malaysia. Only one comment are disputing and we know which side of the bread he/she is buttering.

Tc Ling: If it is a dynasty, yes of course. But is it a dynasty? As far as I know, DAP was merely a political party before it captured Penang. And wasn't the late Karpal Singh the chairman? How is it considered a dynasty when power distribution is not limited to family members only?

Teik Lee: DAP is now a fully multi-racial party. Racial politics are shunned by DAP as it believes in a Malaysian Malaysia. Whereas Umno is a fully Malay party where Malays come first. LKS is playing the role of mentor and LGE is still young and has many years to ensure that all Malaysians have a place under the Malaysian sun. DAP with PKR and Amanah will be governing Malaysia soon.

Susan Tay: What dynasty for them to suffer? Thank God for their perseverance to continue to serve Malaysians towards a just society for all Malaysians! May God grant you long life, Uncle Lim. So old already, still cannot retire but to stay on the battlefield until this country is rid of greedy and corrupt politicians

Hun Eng Ooi: The message is a fair wake-up call to the DAP to avoid the pitfalls, woes and follies of a political party where power lies in the hand of a single person. Remember, power corrupts. But at this stage of the political crisis, DAP needs both LKS and LGE to continue holding the torch of meritocracy for all Malaysians. But there are also many others in DAP who are vocal as they fight for justice - you see them, you hear them.

Harry Ooi: So says who? Only those with a hidden agenda.

Benjamin Phang: LKS yes but not LGE. He is still young.

Daniel Liew: Nonsense. Whoever wrote the letter must have been terribly misinformed.

Eddie Ng: By the same token, all political parties in this country can be define as "Dynasty" if father and son in any political party can be defined as one.

Eagle Lee: They should go if they are found to be corrupted or abuse their power. Or else get someone more capable to replace them democratically. Nothing else matters.

Soon Yew Liow: DAP stays, BN go. Under BN, I have enough of broken promises

Lee Ting Liong: DAP needs the two Lims to lead DAP.

Kindly Gently: Then ask Tun M's son to resign la, ask CSL's son to resign la, etc etc...

Yee Kwok Fung: Is DAP perfect? No! Is DAP doing a good job? Room for improvement! Is DAP heading in the right direction? Certainly yes!

Mohd Taib Mohd Said: Not to say I am in agreement with LGE but just LKS is good enough.

Aliff Vaas: To me All capitalist parties like DAP, BN, PKR and PAS should be abolished once and for all. We need a socialist party in Malaysia which clearly set aside all racist policies and rule this country with parity among Malaysians without any discrepancies between races.
