SRI AMAN: Communities living in the rural areas here are advised to view the gifts of development given to them positively.
According to Housing Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, it is about time the people appreciate the developments carried out by the government for them.
“If the people do not recognise this, they will never appreciate it. Development will only reach the people when they appreciate it,” he said.
Harden, who is also Simanggang assemblyman and Assistant Minister of Rural Development, was speaking to reporters during an event organised by the Special Affairs Department (Jasa) here yesterday.
“Local community leaders here must also stay updated and informed when it comes to the government’s development plan for the people. That way, they can help paint a positive picture of the government’s plan for the people,” he said.
Meanwhile, during the same event, Harden distributed government grants in the form of cheques to several villages in the area. The villages are Ulu Undup (RM28,000), Kampung Ijok (RM5,000), Kampung Sungai Reboh (RM5,000), Kampung Sungai Labi (RM5,000), Kampung Titikah (RM5,000), Kampung Rampuie (RM2,000), Kampung Temiang Nunggang (RM2,000), Kampung Temiang Baru (RM2,000), Kampung Temiang Asal (RM2,000) and Kampung Temiang (RM2,000).
