Yes, ban Hadi from Sarawak, he deserves it

QUICK TAKE: What is it that PAS president Hadi Awang hates so much about the Dayaks that he can’t help insulting and mocking them?

Last time he said only ‘cawat’ (loincloth) wearing Dayaks voted BN, while all well-attired people voted for the Opposition.

That insolence came right after the 2009 Batang Ai by-election.

This time he said Christian missionaries used money and charity projects to convert people in Sarawak and Sabah to Christianity.

When he spoke of people in Sarawak being converted in such manner, of course he means the Dayaks who make the majority of the Christians in the state.

It’s really one insolence after another from a man who is supposed to be knowledgeable, learned and politically wise.

Unfortunately, Hadi is none of these, not when or where it concerns Sarawak and Sarawakians.

When or where it concerns Sarawak and Sarawakians, Hadi is a complete ignoramus.

And when it concerns Dayaks, the PAS president is an idiot.

(Christianity is no longer attractive in countries where there is a high level of education, such as Germany, France, Britain and other European countries. They brought their teaching to the interiors of our country like Sabah and Sarawak.)

Rightly, the Bishop of the Anglican Church's Kuching Diocese, Bolly Lapok, calls him “mischievous”: “With due respect to him as a one of the political leaders, Hadi (should) put all of his condemning words in a basket and throw it into our Sarawak river. He (is) plainly mischievous."

And “a man of no substance”: “I do not know what sort of books he is reading, what sources he is quoting or how he reached that observation. He is a person of no substance and has no right to talk about Christians or the Dayaks in Sarawak.”

Indeed, Hadi has no right to talk about Christians and Dayaks in Sarawak. Certainly not in the manner that he did.

Clearly he hates them, does not respect them and cannot accept them as they are – Dayaks who are Christians.

But does he realise Dayaks and Christians are close to two-third of Sarawak’s near three million population today?

If Hadi cannot bring himself to even respect Sarawak’s Christians and Dayaks, what is there for Hadi in Sarawak?

In the eyes of Christians and Dayaks, Hadi just doesn’t belong. He is not of their world. He rightly belongs to where he comes from and should not be allowed to set foot on Sarawak soil – ever.

Hadi should be banned from Sarawak. As rightly demanded by Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Dr James Masing, and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) secretary-general Sebastian Ting, Hadi must be barred from entering the state.

Sarawak can do without Hadi, and he should not find that difficult to accept.

In peaceful times like now, Chief Minister Adenan Satem will not find any better reason to bar non-Sarawakians from entering Sarawak than being insolent, insensitive and disrespectful of the people of the state.

Hadi has just earned what he deserves.-The Ant Daily
