PRS leaders slam Richard Wil for supporting Entri

MIRI: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) branch leaders from Senadin, Pujut and Lambir have slammed supreme council member Richard Wil Uban for backing Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran’s bid to be retained as Barisan Nasional’s (BN) candidate for Marudi.

In a joint press statement on Thursday, the group said Richard’s statement had nothing to do with the party.

“PRS is very upset with Richard and disagree with his personal opinion. It is because the party has not given consent for him to make such a statement,” said PRS supreme council member Pandang Semat.

He said party leaders here had held an urgent meeting on the matter after receiving calls and inquiries on Richard’s statement.

“Richard during the pact of ‘Merger of Minds’ between PRS, Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) gave his total support to such cooperation. But now, what he had said is against the understanding,” said Pandang.

According to him, in the spirit of ‘Merger of Minds and Hearts’, PRS Marudi has been instructed to give total support to SPDP’s proposed candidate Datu Dr Penguang Manggil to contest in the seat.

“PRS has experienced the same problem of what has been experienced by SPDP now and that’s why we understand what they feel,” he said.

Fellow supreme council member Nyempah Sabot, who is also PRS Meluan chairman, said Richard had also made an earlier statement that Entri was doing a good job for the people in his constituency.

Nyempah claimed the statement created dissatisfaction among the people who did not want Entri, who is Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) secretary-general, to be their elected representative.

PRS Senadin Women’s chief councillor Misiah Abdullah said she wanted the party to take appropriate action against Richard.

“The decision that we made will be submitted to the party president and we will leave it to the party leadership to decide,” she said.

SUPP Pujut chairman Adam Yii said the party is very committed and respectful of the ‘Merger of Minds’ pact.

“SUPP is very disciplined in dealing with any issue and I strongly support the fast action taken by all the PRS branches in Miri Division towards Richard.

“Our party branch in Miri joins the others to give total support to Dr Penguang as the BN candidate for Marudi,” he said.-Borneo Post
