Vernon quipped DAP Sarawak with 'Cerita Dongeng'

ENSERA TAUKA CERITA DONGENG KEBUN AJI

There was a farmer named Aji. He found a large abandoned field in Betong and started to farm it. He cleared the overgrown grass and chopped down the wild trees. He found friends to help him and for three years they worked on the field, bought fertilisers and various farming utensils, chased away monkeys and rats and planted new fruit trees.

In the fourth year, the fruit trees began to blossom with buds and flowers. Aji and his friends were happy because this indicated that they would get a good harvest of fruits.

Suddenly, a businessman named Ah Chong saw that Aji's field was fertile and that the fruits were soon to be ripe. So Ah Chong sent his worker named Anding to Aji's farm in Betong. Anding started to weed the bushes around the fruit trees in Aji's farm.

Aji saw what was happening and asked Anding, "My friend. Why are you gardening in my farm?"

Anding replied, "My friend. My boss Ah Chong told me to come here and do some gardening. He says that this farm does not belong to anyone because it was an abandoned farm, so anyone can farm here and claim the fruits once these fruit trees bear fruit."

Aji was surprised but patiently said, "My friend. Do you know that my friends and I have been farming here for 4 years? We have invested our time and money here. We sowed seeds and now we have a beautiful orchard that will be ripe for the harvest soon. You just arrived today and now you tell me that your boss and you are claiming this farm?"

Anding responded, "My friend. My boss says you have a shop and live in Kuching, so you cannot take good care of this farm. He also said he is worried that monkeys might come and steal the fruits when they are ripe. He doesn't want monkeys to steal the fruits unnecessarily. He is deeply concerned for the fruits. Therefore he said I should take care of this farm instead."

Aji remained calm and said, "My friend. Where I live does not matter. I have CCTV in every tree. My workers whatsapp me photos of the fruit trees every day. My farm may be in Gelang Patah, Johor, but I can still monitor and service my farm from Kuala Lumpur, just like my other friend Julian who lives in KL but his huge neglected farm is in Stampin.

Furthermore, there are many other abandoned and empty fields in the ulu areas waiting to be farmed. Why don't you and your boss Ah Chong go there and start your own farm, like I did here 4 years ago?"

Anding sheepishly replied, "My friend. I am only the worker lah. Don't scold me. You have to ask my boss Ah Chong why he is eyeing your fertile field and abundant harvest."

Aji responded, "My friend. I am not scolding you. I am aware that you are just an innocent worker. But why is your boss doing this?"

Anding did not reply. So reader, why do you think Ah Chong is doing this?
