New Hope movement is PAS’s internal problem, says Azmin

PKR has yet to discuss and come to any conclusions about Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB), the splinter movement from PAS, party deputy president Azmin Ali said.

Azmin, who is Selangor Mentri Besar, told reporters at the state government's open house today that he considers GHB to be PAS's "internal affair" and refused to weigh in with his own opinions on the matter.

"This is not an issue about personal opinions. The party hasn't discussed it," Azmin said.

The splinter movement, formed with the aim of starting a new political party, is led by PAS progressive leaders who were axed in the party's fractious muktamar last month.

Azmin's statement comes despite PKR secretary general Rafizi Ramli saying previously that he would support GHB and speak at their roadshows.

Although Pakatan Rakyat has ceased to exist at the national level, the Selangor government has continued to function with the former Pakatan framework.

However, DAP has said that it will make a decision on their state government participation after discussions with Azmin, with no resolution found to date.

"I am confident the PAS leadership can resolve this matter amicably, so the people can see a change through Pakatan Rakyat in the next elections," he said.

Meanwhile, Azmin reiterated that the state will work towards finalising the transfer of water assets in 60 days to complete its water agreement inked with Putrajaya. – July 19, 2015. -The Malaysian Insider.
