Dayak-based foundation awards 18 full scholarships

KUCHING: State-based technical education foundation Yayasan Teras has approved full scholarships to 18 applicants who are going to pursue technical studies in local universities.
According to Land Development Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing, the recipients include two women who are pursuing PhDs in civil and chemical engineering.
“We offer scholarships to deserving Dayaks, regardless of their religion and political affiliations,” stressed Masing, who is also PRS president, when met after a meeting among Yayasan Teras board members here yesterday.
The foundation was set up by the now defunct Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PDBS). It was later handed to PRS when PBDS was deregistered in 2002.
Masing disclosed that since its inception in 1996, Yayasan Teras had benefitted some 1,000 Dayak students through scholarships.- Borneo Post
