Throw your support behind proven leaders, urges Dr Sim

KUCHING: It is important for the people to rally behind leaders who have a proven track record of service and who are willing to make sacrifices for the good of the state and country.

SUPP president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said it is especially important to support such leaders in the coming state election.

“A person’s character never changes,” said Dr Sim when contacted yesterday.

He opined that life is “a matter of choice”.

“I chose to brain drain from Australia. I chose to serve the people through public service rather than join the private sector.”

On the Sarawak Heart Centre, he said it received funding of RM2 million in 2001. But the figure had ballooned to RM50 million annually now, all for the benefit of Sarawakians.

“I chose to leave the service so that people below me have a chance to lead.”

Dr Sim thanked his comrades for believing in the dream that started 15 years ago at Sarawak General Hospital to make Sarawak Heart Centre a centre of excellence in Malaysia and in the region.

Meanwhile, Dr Sim, who is also a visiting senior consultant cardiologist, said the name Sarawak General Hospital Heart Centre had been changed to Sarawak Heart Centre from Jan 1 this year.

“The name change is appropriate as it reflects the status of the heart centre.”-Borneo Post
