Sarawak CM expresses sympathy to Indonesia over bombings


KUCHING: Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem on behalf of the government and the people of Sarawak today expressed his deepest sympathy and condolences to the people of Indonesia and family members of the victims of the terrorist attacks in Jakarta on Thursday.

“As close neighbours, the people of Sarawak share in the sorrow and pain of the people of Indonesia in these difficult and trying times.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Indonesian people,” he said in a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office here this morning.

Adenan joined leaders worldwide in condemning the horrific acts of atrocity against innocent people, saying, “the people in Sarawak stand in solidarity with the people of Indonesia to bring the perpetrators to justice”.

The chief minister further expressed confidence that the Indonesian government would deal with the situation decisively.

Seven people comprising five attackers and two civilians were confirmed killed in the bomb attack outside ‘Gedung Sarinah’ in the Indonesian capital on Thursday, while 13 others were reported to have been seriously injured including five police personnel. — Bernama
