Sadia Sarikei plans big protest against Uztaz’s appointment

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (Sadia) Sarikei say they are planning to gather all Dayak-based NGOs and civil societies to hold a big protest against the government’s lack of sensitivity in addressing the issue of an Uztaz appointed principal of SMK Sungai

Paoh in Sarikei that houses mostly Christian and Dayak students.

The branch chairman Clement Hillary on Friday said they were still not happy with the government for not transferring the teacher from Kelantan Ruslin Che Mood even after several members of the Dayak community had expressed their grouses.

“The argument whether the Dayak community should be less sensitive towards the issue does not hold water because the issue itself is indeed sensitive,” he said, adding that it should be addressed with due care.

“We are planning a big protest statewide.

“We will invite Dayak NGOs, people’s elected representatives, political parties and other civil societies to join us,” he said.

Clement said he hoped to hear and see a positive response from the government within a week from Friday.

He was accompanied by Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) Baru supreme council member Cobbold Lusoi when issuing the statement, who expressed his agreement in holding the rally.-Borneo Post
