BELAWAI: Tar-sealing works on an access road that leads to an integrated burial ground in Kampung Belawai should be completed before Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Tanjung Manis MP Datuk Norah Tun Abdul Rahman expressed such optimism during an inspection on the project recently.
“I hope that the Muslims here could go the graves of their dearly departed more conveniently this Hari Raya, by which time the access road would be ready,” she said.
Norah was accompanied by the state administrative officer of Belawai Sub-District’s Office, Abang Muhammad Abang Turkey and Penghulu Dandan Sidi during the site visit.
On the integrated burial ground, Dandan said it was divided into three sections, namely Muslim, Christian and Chinese cemeteries.
“The ground caters to the need of the multiple communities that we have here, such as the Malays, Melanau Muslims, Chinese and Ibans. It’s significance is more than the final resting place for the people here; it is also a symbol of solid unity amongst us,” he said.-Borneo Post
