KUCHING: State PKR has promised Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) its full support in tandem with the stance of its national counterpart.
State PKR deputy president See Chee How sees GHB as a platform and vehicle forliberals in PAS to continue their political struggle and exertion to bring about changes in Malaysia.
“The GHB which is headed by Mohamad Sabu has its leadership made up of many members of parliament and state assemblymen who have proven track records of standing up for people’s cause.
“I have no doubt that GHB will be a movement that will have a huge impact in the coming general election, particularly in West Malaysia,” See told The Borneo Post yesterday.
He pledged his full support to GHB also for the fact that its leadership had voiced their commitment to the common agenda of PR which was endorsed and supported by the majority of Malaysian voters in the recent general election.
See, who is also Batu Lintang state assemblyman, was responding to an announcement by PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli yesterday that the party would give its full support to GHB, a new movement initiated by PAS liberals who were voted out in the party’s recent election.
Describing GHB as a platform catering for MPs, state assemblymen and activists with track records in challenging Umno/BN, Rafizi said the movement was a positive development for those seeking an answer amid the economic, social and political crisis plaguing the country now.
Acknowledging that the movement is led by Mohamad Sabu and other top leaders who have long fought to topple Umno/BN and with more experience than him and other younger leaders, Rafizi said he would give support and cooperate with them.
“I know all these leaders well and have been with them in championing the issues of the people all these while.
“I will give all support and cooperation for them to create rapport to oust Umno/BN in the 14th general election,” said Rafizi, adding he would attend the road show to be held by GHB after the Hari Raya celebration.
He expressed confidence in the new movement, believing it will unite all quarters seeking to bring changes by defeating Umno/BN in the next general election.-Borneo Post
