Adenan’s reply on Batu Kawa land deal at ‘next DUN sitting’

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem will address queries raised by state DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen on the Batu Kawa land deal at an appropriate time.

Adenan said in his Facebook posting at about 5.30pm yesterday that he would give his reply during the next State Legistative Assembly (DUN) sitting, which is scheduled for Aug 17.

“I will address criticisms against the state government at an appropriate time and place, or during the next DUN sitting.”

Adenan did not specifically mention about the land deal in his Facebook posting, but when contacted yesterday, his office confirmed it was about the land deal that was raised by Chong, who is also Bandar Kuching MP and Kota Sentosa assemblyman.

In a statement on Sunday, Chong wondered why the state government was adamant on selling the 267-acre of state land in Batu Kawa to Standard Parade Development Sdn Bhd (SPD) for RM115 million when a purchaser was willing to pay RM620 million for it.

“It has been more than one month since I submitted the proposal of a purchaser willing to take up the state land opposite MJC New Township at the price of RM620 million, yet Adenan is still silent on the state government’s position,” said Chong.-Borneo Post
