Why would BN close ranks to support a non-BN man?

SARAWAK FOCUS: A non-Barisan Nasional (BN) man calling on BN people and parties to close ranks to help him win Marudi in the coming state election? That’s preposterous!

No, Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) Marudi incumbent Sylvester Entri should stop taking BN people and parties for fools.

BN can win Marudi without him. In fact, Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP), the party whose seat he took with him to Teras, has got a most capable replacement to defend Marudi from the oppositions, or if necessary, from him as well.

That person is Dr Penguang Manggil. It is Penguang who will be BN-SPDP flag-bearer in Marudi come the 11th State Election.

Whatever projects or pledges of projects from Sylvester no longer matter because right now they are just tactics to try to present to the BN what he is not.

Roads and bridges, water and electricity have long been promised, therefore, should have long been built or made available. Announcing their approval now is merely repeating what had been announced all those years that Sylvester has been the Marudi assemblyman.

No, folks no longer believe announcements, approvals and pledges because there were too many such declarations 10-20 years ago, but nothing came of them.

Folks no longer believe in Sylvester, who has had close to 20 years to do what he was supposed to do but failed. That effectively means Sylvester is no longer BN’s winnable candidate.

Today, Sylvester’s pledges and promises are mere attempt to create for himself a kind of lifeline.

The Marudi incumbent is like a swimmer who is fast going under in strong current, dishing out those near-election grants and pledges is akin to grabbing at floating woods and debris to help him keep afloat.

He has had all the time to himself to transform the lives of longhouse folks in Marudi and throughout those years, folks thought if there was anybody who could change their life for the better it was Sylvester.

Those years, sadly, folks did know of any others.

That, however, has all changed. After close to two decades, another son of Marudi has arrived – Penguang.
Penguang does not come with just empty promises; he comes fully loaded and with guns blazing, so to speak.

While it took Sylvester close to 20 years to be able to dish out grants like he did the last few weeks, Penguang arrives and delivers right away.

The fact that Penguang is able to do that is ample proof of BN’s trust in the ability of the new son of Marudi.
Nothing like this has ever happened in Marudi before – not in the last 20 years!

But it is happening now because Penguang represents BN’s new hope and aspirations for Marudi, a rural seat that has been by-passed by mainstream development.

What Sylvester should do is call on BN to close ranks in support of his successor, the true BN man, Dr Penguang Manggil, PhD.- The Ant Daily
