KUCHING: The Kuching-leg of ‘Jelajah Ramadan Sarawak’ ended yesterday with a children colouring contest and distribution of ‘bubur lambuk’ at RTM Sarawak here.

Thirty Kemas (Community Development Department) pre-schoolers, aged four to five, took part in the colouring contest, which was officiated at by chief political secretary to the chief minister Abdullah Saidol.

Present were RTM Sarawak deputy director Jamel Seman, its Radio Section principal assistant director Faridah Sulong and state Kemas director Abang Rabaee Abang Muhi.

All participants were given ‘duit Raya’ and other goodies, while the winners also brought home the prizes they had won.

“This Ramadan tour programme is organised by RTM’s Radio Section (Sarawakfm) in conjunction with the fasting month and to strengthen ties between RTM personnel, underprivileged children, single mothers and the needy.

“It also enables our leaders to meet the people and for RTM staff to foster ties with those from government agencies and the public in general,” a spokesperson told reporters covering the event.

Although Kuching hosted the event this year, ‘Jelajah Ramadan Sarawak’ also made stops at Limbang on June 26, Miri (June 28), Bintulu (June 29), Sibu-Kapit-Sarikei (June 30 to July 2) and Sri Aman (July 3).-Borneo Post
