Hope Place moves into new premises, appeals for sponsors to help pay rent

KUCHING: Hope Place, an NGO that visits poor and less fortunate families to contribute essential food items is appealing to the public to sponsor their monthly rental of RM3,300 at its new premises at Jalan Dogan.

According to its founder and chief coordinator Kelvin Wan, Hope Place will be renting and occupying the new premises at Jalan Dogan Commercial Centre from July 1 onwards.

“Our new address is at Ground Floor and 1st Floors, Lot 4786, Jalan Dogan, Sunny Park Commercial Centre, 93250, Kuching and we hope that there are kind people out there willing to sponsor our monthly rental,” said Wan in a press statement
recently.

He pointed out that they have to move from the old premises – a semi-detached house – because it is too small for them to store and distribute food items to 120 families.

“Each round we need more than RM50,000 worth of foods items to support disabled and needy families as well as the elderly. We hope more donors will come forward to help us to help others,” said Wan.

Hope Place contributes essential food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits and noodles.

“Many families or individuals barely earn enough to get through the month and are grateful for the assistance or basic necessities delivered to them.

“For families with children with special needs or with elderly people, they have to be provided milk powder and diapers as well,” he explained.

Hope Place carries out their aid deliveries once every two months because of the many families on their recipients’ list.

It supports more than 120 families. For more information, Hope Place can be reached at 013-5672775 from 9am to 12pm on Mondays to Fridays.

Should the public be interested to make a donation, ask for a receipt from the staff at Hope Place.
