DAP maintains ‘Go Rural’ campaign ahead of polls

SIBU: The DAP will be focusing on rural constituencies in the next state election through its ‘Impian Sarawak’ projects.

According to Sibu MP Oscar Ling, the move is vital for the party to achieve a breakthrough when it comes to the rural electorate.

“We see the importance of gaining a foothold in the rural areas as the only way forward for the party,” he said at the press conference yesterday.

However, Ling did not dismiss the urban voters, encouraging them to continue supporting DAP.

“The rural constituencies are important but so are the urban ones – both are equally important for us to achieve a breakthrough in the next state election.”

On its rural focus, Ling said DAP would carry out two projects in Pasai from Aug 6 to 9. The undertaking would include improvement and repair works on the wharf and two bus stops in Teku, Pasai.

He said the Pasai folk had been deprived of good road infrastructure over the past several years.

“They will benefit tremendously from these two projects; once the upgrading and repair works are completed.”

Ling further said DAP’s ‘Impian Sarawak’ projects had been benefitting many people in the rural areas over the years, with many of them having openly expressed their support for the projects.

“We will continue with our ‘Go Rural’ campaign state-wide in our bid to win more rural seats in the next election,” he added.-Borneo Post
