KUALA LUMPUR: Some 10,000 Sarawakians attended the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2015 dinner that was graced by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib last night.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, in his keynote address, said he hoped the gathering for Sarawakians studying, working and living in Peninsular Malaysia would continue indefinitely.
“We shall have this gathering every year to instil the sense of belonging among Sarawakians, regardless of where they are because they are anak Sarawak,” he told the huge crowd at Putra World Trade Centre here.
Adenan also asked those present to give him another five years, saying: “You gave my predecessor 33 years, and I only ask for five years.”
After the speech, Taib launched the dinner by scanning his palm against a device on stage to unveil a video titled ‘Kamek Anak Sarawak’.
Among prominent figures who said ‘I am anak Sarawak’ in the video clip were Adenan and wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Jamilah Anu, State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani, Deputy State Secretary Datu Ose Murang and Sarawak football team players.-Borneo Post
