KUCHING: About 1,000 villages in Sarawak cannot be accessed by road according to a study, the state legislative assembly was told today.
Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing said an estimated RM24.8 billion was needed to construct up to 4,402 kilometres of road to connect these villages.
In a winding-up speech, he said the construction of these roads would have to be executed in phases due to limited funds available.-Sarawakiana
