I can’t deliver if govt is weak — Adenan

MIRI: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem has pointed out that he would not be able to carry out his development plans for Sarawak if Barisan Nasional (BN) does not win the next state election convincingly.
He reiterated his call for the people to give him five more years in office.
“There are many things that we can achieve together. We are now in a better and stronger position to negotiate with the federal government and make more money for Sarawak,” he said during the Aidilfitri ‘Melanggar Meja’ event in Sepupok, Niah on Thursday.
“If you want to have new facilities, we know what to do. During the election, vote for Barisan Nasional. If you want a weak government, I can’t deliver that, but with a strong government I can.”
He assured the people that he would not let them down and would fight for their interests and fulfil their needs, in particular with regards to development.
Adenan pointed out that Sarawak has stopped issuing permits for new timber concessions and plantations.
“There would be no more timber concessions and plantations as what we have now is more than enough. The land which is left now is for the people because we do not want village lands being seized for plantation purposes,” he said.
However, he pointed out that the state government supports the plantation concept of the Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Salcra), Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) and Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), which safeguards the people’s Native Customary Rights (NCR) land.-Borneo Post
