BN still very much relevant, says Uggah

BETONG: Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah says Barisan Nasional (BN) is still a relevant party that can ensure continuous developments.

He also said BN was a party with capable leaders who are committed in ensuring that their visions could be achieved.

“If we look at the political scenario in Betong, BN has the strength and holistic plans for developments which is why there is no reason for the local people to reject BN,” Uggah said during a meet-the-people session here on Monday.

He also said the policies and leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, who is Layar assemblyman, would continue the era of development in Betong.

The people of Betong had also expressed their desire to see Jabu defending his seat in the next state election due to his vast experience in politics.

“He (Jabu) should be given full support and deserves a big majority win in the state election which is expected to be held early next year,” said Uggah who is also Betong MP.

He also said the people were now able to see and experience the developments brought about by the BN government and that the people were living a comfortable life.

The opposition on the other hand was merely harping on issues and creating sentiments to win the confidence of the people, he said.

“They (opposition) claim the government is not carrying out development projects, but what are they actually doing for the people,” he asked.

Later at the function, Uggah presented assistance to various Village Safety and Development Committees (JKKKs) from the surrounding villages and longhouses and the Chinese community.-Borneo Post
