Minos: DAP’s PAS bashing a ploy

KUCHING: The constant bashing by state DAP against PAS is seen by some political observers as just a show to impress the people of Sarawak, particularly the Chinese community.

A prominent Bidayuh figure Dato Peter Minos said it could not be denied that DAP at the federal level was certainly unhappy with PAS over hudud and other things, but in the case of DAP Sarawak, they had other agendas for their constant bashing of PAS.

“They want to maintain the party’s image with Sarawak Chinese community because state election is drawing near. Election is only about a year from now, or as some speculate maybe sooner so the party has to play some tricks to fish for votes, of which the constant PAS-bashing applies,” he said.

Commenting on the ongoing DAP-PAS feud, he told The Borneo Post through short messaging system yesterday that DAP Sarawak talked and played big and loud just to impress Sarawak Chinese voters, even hinting that it could defy DAP KL and its top leaders, which is political bluffing or ‘political con’ as the Brits call it.

“In the end, Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng call the shots in DAP, not those DAP minions in Sarawak. If DAP KL says jump, Kuching DAP will jump.
“There is a limit that you can bluff people. You cannot fool all the people all the time. So I do not buy this Sarawak DAP-PAS bashing as real or sincere but mere politicking,” he said yesterday.

Minos added that as far as he was concerned he fully went along with the views of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem on Peninsula-based parties that they were not wanted in Sarawak because of their differing ideologies, ways and styles, not compatible with the people of Sarawak.

“Even Umno is not needed, what more to say DAP or PKR or PAS for that matter. Let us just say our Sarawak political parties and local leaders know us better and we can rely on them to look after the state, not people from DAP and the like.

“How to stomach DAP’s politics of extreme hair-splitting, severe opponent-bashing, endless fault finding, always playing race and religion for politics? Maybe such attitudes are good in Peninsula, but not in Sarawak,” he asserted.-Borneo Post
